How to Setup Bolt Data Connect in a Salesforce Simple Demo Org (SDO)

If you're a Salesforce Solution Engineer or Account Executive and need to setup a demo org or test org of Bolt Data Connect, follow the setup instructions below. In no time, you'll be ready to demo the asset monitoring capabilities of Bolt Data Connect.

STEP ONE

Create a Salesforce Simple Demo Org (SDO)

Once you've logged in to the Salesforce Partner Learning Camp, select the navigation tab menu item: Demo Org. Then, select SDO from the Demo Type dropdown menu options and click Submit. Follow the instructions to provision the SDO.

STEP TWO

Install Bolt Data Connect from the AppExchange

Once the SDO is setup, visit the Bolt Data Connect AppExchange listing and click Get It Now. Follow the install wizard instructions to install Bolt Data Connect in the SDO environment.

Note: This will start a 30-day free trial of Bolt Data Connect.

STEP THREE

Install the Bolt Data Connect Demo Kit

Next, install the Bolt Data Connect Demo Kit into your SDO environment. This Demo Kit has preconfigured asset data so you can demo Bolt Data Connect quickly.

When asked Where do you want to install this package?, select Install in Production.

On the Confirmation Installation Details screen, fill out all of the fields and select that you agree to the terms and conditions. Click Confirm and Install.

On the install screen, select Install for Admins Only.

Select install and select Grant Access to third-party websites.

    Enter your Salesforce email to receive a link to download the Demo Kit.

    STEP FOUR

    Test Demo Kit App Functionality

    To verify the demo app has been installed correctly, open the SDO environment and select Bolt Data Connect (Demo Kit) in the app launcher.

    Next, click on the IoT Demo Kit tab. On this screen, you can create custom asset data to use in the demo. Simply fill out the following fields:

      • Name: This is the name of the asset or group of assets. Many customers choose to organize by region or product type, such as "Accussage Midwest" or "Accussage AdvancedMRI Pro".
      • Account: Select the Account in Salesforce to associate the asset(s) with.
      • Geo-Code: In Google Maps, right click on any location and copy/paste the generated Geo Coordinates here. This will auto create asset(s) in that area.
      • IoT Thing Type: Select the type of assets that are suitable for your demo. Contact us if you need to create custom IoT Thing Types.
      • # of Assets: Enter any value greater than 1 for the number of assets to generate.

     

    Then click Next. This will take you to the IoT Gateways tab and display the new assets that were created. From here, you can test all of the features and functions of Bolt Data Connect.

    Ready for Demo!

    Now that Bolt Data Connect Demo Kit has successfully been installed and tested, you're ready to demo Bolt Data Connect to customers!
